Hello! I’m not sure what to write in these blog posts but a weekly recap might be interesting. Talk about what I’ve been doing, projects I’m working on or starting, random interesting things, etc. I am writing this the Monday after, so who knows how much detail I’ll remember?
My weeks this summer start pretty chill: I only have classes in the middle of the week this summer term, which means the first few days are a combination of chilling out and grinding on homework. I also met up with my aunt to work on a project with her; I’ve been designing graphics for her for an upcoming presentation. After that, it was time to return home and work on some personal projects.
Throughout the week, I’ve been working on some drawings of my friend’s DND characters. I found the original sketches a couple of weeks ago, and since some new players are going to join our game soon, I figured it would be a good time to revamp them. The original sketches were old, so I ended up remaking them. But now I have the basic sketches for 4/6 characters done! (I think it’ll be six at least)
Saturday I went to the Philly Art Museum! My aunt (a different aunt) had an extra ticket for the Mary Cassat Exhibit so I tagged along with her, my uncle, and my cousin to go see it. Apparently, the last time this exhibit was in the US, or at least the last time they got to see it, my cousin was a baby. And now she’s 25!
I don’t go to the museum enough for an art student in Philly. Not only was the exhibit incredible, and we got a really cool tour, but I also saw some things that had been discussed in my History of Modern Design Class! I felt very smart getting to show my family the Thonet rocking chair at the museum and tell them about the steam bending technique used to bend the wood. And I love this quote from Mary Cassatt, I want to put it on my wall. Afterward, we went to the Alymra Restaurant which had the most melt-in-your-mouth lamb chops and incredible spreads. I had to rally to walk the dog I am watching after because I only wanted to lay down and digest.
I’m not sure how to end this, but that was my week! See you next week friends.
